Ministry in Higher Education
Mr. Zachary Wichmann is the CCI staffperson for the Ministry in Higher Education Department.
Priorities
The Ministry in Higher Education Department has established the following priorities:
- To educate and inform the Church about the Ministry in Higher Education (MHE) and its importance to the mission of Christ.
- To recognize and utilize the unique position of MHE on college campuses to serve as a forum for understanding and living out our Catholic heritage.
- To encourage dialogue and cooperation between MHE and other Church ministries in order to facilitate the successful transitions of Catholics from youth and high school ministry to college, and back into parish life and life-long leadership in the Church.
- To more closely align the work of MHE with the legislative agenda of the Catholic Conference by using campus ministry as a grassroots network in introducing legislation in areas specific to higher education and in advocating for the Church's broader agenda.
- To provide opportunities for education and professional development for campus ministers through the annual Catholic Conference of Illinois/Ministry in Higher Education Conference, professional certification in campus ministry, and regular department meetings.
