 CCI Statement - July 26, 2007
The Catholic Bishops of Illinois through the Catholic Conference of Illinois have a long history of supporting initiatives that increase access to adequate health insurance coverage necessary for people to live with dignity.

At this point in the debate, the role of the Catholic Conference has not been to endorse a specific approach or solution to health care reform, but to elaborate principles necessary for consideration.  At this time, no Illinois Bishop has contacted any member of the Illinois General Assembly in support or in opposition to any specific health care proposal.
